Viral outbreak, Day 3
Ever since the beginning of the viral outbreak. I've been very uneasy and find it impossible to relax. Every sound, every person, everything I see makes me scared for my life. I decided the best way to deal with this was just to pretend it wasn't even real. So I decided to go to my friend Emma's house. That was my original plans before the outbreak had begun, and hanging out with my friend would be a great way to forget about the whole viral infection. I went to Emma's house at 8 o'clock that evening. We decided to go for a walk in the woods behind her house; that's what we normally do when we go to her house. We were about half a mile away from her house when we saw a strange figure in the distance. Why we walked forward, approaching the dark figure, is still a mystery to me. We should have run for cover, but instead we walked up to the figure, our curiousity leading us forward. When we were about three feet away the creature let out a low-pitched roar, that sent shivers up my spine. He turned to stare at as, his eyes were blood red as he stared right at us. "Run!" Emma yelled, turning and sprinting away. I followed right behind her, in pursuit by the dark figure. I heard Emma yelling, "Ouch!" I turned and looked at Emma, who had fallen down a few feet behind. Our pursuer came closer and closer, until he could reach Emma. He grabbed her by the arm, his blood shot eyes bright, focused. His mouth opened as he let out another scream. I thought there was no hope, until Emma sat up stared right at him, and punched him right in the gut. He was only momentarilly dazed, but that was long enough for Emma to get to her feet and escape. Together we ran back to her house, running faster then we had ever run before. When we got back to her house we ran straight up to her room. We sat there in complete silence for at least ten minutes, still trying to relax and get our thoughts under control. We eventually decided to watch a movie, so we flipped through all the movie channels until we found a fun looking comedy on (we made sure to avoid any horror films.) Thirty minutes into the movie Emma started looking very ill. She soon started groaning, and telling me she felt strange. I decided maybe Emma just needed to rest. I called my mom and she came and picked me up. I said goodbye to Emma, told her to feel better soon, and then left to go back to my house. Whenever I got home I called Emma to see if she was feeling better, but she wouldn't answer. I sure hope she's okay...
